Mariposite   Probably gets its name from the old gold mining town of Mariposa California, which is located near Yosemite National Park.  Near here is where our prospectors find this amazing beautiful green and white stone.  And, why it is referred to as the "Yosemite Stone".

Mariposite is an informal mineral name that is used to describe  various types of mica with a green color.  The green coloring is from chromium.  The white coloring is Quartz.  Prospectors in the 1800s some times found gold in Mariposite.
